Athletic Department Guidelines

Rules, regulations, and respect for authority are a part of any society. It is the policy of NMA to support those rules and regulations prescribed by the individual coach which are in harmony with the athletic and educational philosophy of the school.

Alabama Christian Education Association rules and regulations must be followed in all cases of eligibility, transfer, starting dates, etc. Each coach has the responsibility to know, to inform team members and parents, and to enforce school and ACEA regulations in these matters.

Display of un-sportsman-like conduct toward an opponent or official or use of profanity during practice or a contest is unacceptable and can result in suspension from that game or future games. The NMA program shares in the providing of equipment required for participation. The exception would be athletic shoes and personal items of this nature. The student accepts full responsibility for the care of this equipment. The student who loses or destroys equipment through carelessness is responsible for its replacement.

The Athletic Director, in consultation with the Supervisor, determines whether or not a student is eligible to participate in a particular sport.

Attendance Requirements

  1. A student must be in school by noon on the day of a contest in order to participate in an activity that day. An exception would be if the student has an approval medical appointment.
  2. Unexcused absences from classes during the season may subject the athlete to be disciplined by his/her coach.
  3. Athletes are expected to be at school in homeroom the following morning after every road trip.

Physical Examinations

  1. Each student who participates in athletics is required to have on file with the Athletic Director and school office a completed physical form by a physician that the athlete has been examined and is physically approved to participate for that school year.
  2. Athletes will not be permitted to try out or practice before obtaining a physical examination.
