2024-25 1st Semester Exam Schedule

Fall semester exams will be given Tuesday, December 17th – Thursday, December 19th with a day for make-up exams on Friday, December 20th. Each exam period will be one hour, in keeping with the amount of time that most students need to complete these exams. There is an optional extended time block following each exam period. Teachers may offer this extended time to students if it is needed. It will be at the teacher’s discretion to either require the exam to be completed in the one-hour time frame or to allow students to remain during the extra-time block. Students who have completed their exams may be dismissed at the end of the standard exam period, but not before. There is dedicated time for help classes at the start of each exam day. Teachers may offer additional help or review periods before exams begin for the day or during the optional extended time blocks. Individual teachers will make this announcement with their classes. · Students are only required to be on campus during exam times. · Students who arrive before the start of the 8:30 exam should report to the gym or to a teacher’s scheduled help class. · Students who drive may leave campus between exams. · Students who do not drive must remain on campus and report to study hall in the gym when not in exams or help classes. · Students are dismissed at the end of the last exam period. Students remaining should be in the gym. · Sign-Out sheets will be provided in each classroom for students to report that they have left campus. · All 7th – 12th grade students will follow the same schedule and will have break in the lunchroom at the scheduled time. There will be no lunch service for 7th – 12th grade students Tuesday – Friday. · Attendance will be recorded in each exam. · Students must take exams during their scheduled times. Any conflicts should be directed to Mrs. Johnson, and she will consider valid excuses for rescheduling. · Students must be in dress code for exams. · Monday, December 16th is a required school day in Term 2. Missing that day counts against attendance and would void perfect attendance exemptions. Teachers may give graded assignments on that day and missed assignments may be counted as a zero. Exemptions Exemption forms will be made available in 1st period classes and the high school office on Friday, December 13th. Students are responsible for having their teachers confirm that they have earned an “A” average in both nine-week terms and are eligible to exempt the exam. Exemption forms should be submitted to the high school office before the start of exams on Tuesday, December 17th. Teachers are not required to approve exemptions before Monday, December 16th. Please allow teachers time to complete their grading and follow your teacher’s instructions about having your exemption approved. Per the Student Handbook: Students can exempt four semester exams in which they have maintained an A in both 9 weeks. AP or dual enrollment classes cannot be exempt from final exams. • If a student has five, unexcused tardies to homeroom or classes, he/she will forfeit one exemption for every five tardies. • Students can also qualify for another exemption on perfect attendance for the year. A “B” is required in both nine weeks within the semester that the final exam falls. (See definition of perfect attendance.) (Page 41) "Perfect Attendance" means that a student attended all day every day of the school year, with no exceptions, including doctor’s appointments, funerals, and vacations. To exempt a semester exam for perfect attendance, a student must have perfect attendance for the current semester the exam is given. Missing 25 minutes (or half of a period) of any class will be considered an absence. The school day begins at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 3:00 P.M. Five unexcused tardies voids perfect attendance. (Page 38)
