Accelerated Reader (AR) Program
Northside values reading and we believe a successful reader will be a successful leader! We use the AR program to assess your student's reading capability, to measure their progress in reading, vocabulary and comprehension.
AR assesses a reading grade level for each student based on an assessment test given at the beginning and middle of the school year. Students then select a book in their reading range and complete comprehension quizzes.
Students are given goals in AR based on a point value and an accuracy value. The point value measures how many words they have read over a 9 week period and the accuracy value measures their comprehension of the material.
Meeting the AR goal is counted as a reading grade for each 9 week period.
